Japan Now

teeerieblr:

I am a Japanese 24year old, living in Tokyo.

The earthquakes occurred in two prefectures. Miyagi and Ibaragi. Both prefectures are placed in northern Japan, both facing the pacific ocean. Both points had a 8.8 magnitude earthquake. It seems there is a massive blackout in northern Japan.

In Tokyo, all transportation systems are down except the buses. People are making Google “shelter in Tokyo” maps for those who have no way to reach their homes. Some subways started to move again right now. Still there are many aftershocks. I can feel little earthquakes. It feels as if I’m on a boat.

I saw on twitter that some CNN anchors were laughing as they read about this news. Also saying a joke “flooded with tweets” “it’s like Godzilla attacking”.

I haven’t seen the video of CNN, so I think it’s not right to comment something about it. However, it is true. Twitter was flooded with enormous amounts of tweets. Some said about the news, about their feelings, what to do, how to care injures, what it’s like around them….. Many tweets were flooding. Many people were panicked, I was too. Cell phones were not usable, we couldn’t call nor text.

I do understand the feeling of the CNN anchors. I know it is hard to feel the reality when something is occurring on the other side of the world, some Asian island that they’ve never been to.

But in reality, many people still aren’t in touch with their family, many people are injured, many people are trapped somewhere, and many people died. I wish the anchors said those jokes when they were off the record.

I apologize for the not good English, I suppose it was hard to read. I just wanted to be one of the real voices from Japan. Even the News aren’t much reliable these days. Thank you for the #prayforjapan tags on twitter.

Human Rights groups say at least 6,000 people have been killed by the Gaddafi regime. → presstv.ir

thelibyanrevolution:

If you really think about the population of Libya which is six million, 6000 people is a HUGE number. HUGE. Just to put it into perspective, it would be as if:

10,000 Tunisians died, or 83,000 Egyptians died, or 307,000 Americans died.
These numbers are COLOSSAL. Gadaffi is no longer just killing people, he is committing democide.

This is in a span of 15 days…and the world just sits and watches.
